The winter season brings out locals and tourists alike for festivals that feature stunning ice sculptures and vibrant lights. Among them are the Lake Shikotsuko Ice Festival, the Asahikawa Winter Festival and the Sounkyo Ice Waterfall Festival.
Known for their seafood, Hokkaido offers some of the freshest delights around. Salmon, king crab and more are on the menu for everyone.
And there’s always time for shopping with stops at Aeon Mall and the shops in the small harbor town of Otaru City.
