DAY 1: HONOLULU – Departure Flights to South America


DAY 3: ARRIVE IN LIMA, PERU: Meet your GLOBUS representative at your hotel.

DAY 4: LIMA–PUERTO MALDONADO–RESERVA AMAZONICA: LIMA Fly to Puerto Maldonado. PUERTO MALDONADO Motorboat ride up the Madre de Dios River to view the exotic wildlife. Arrive at your Amazon Jungle lodge. RESERVA AMAZONICA Nature walk through the rainforest led by an expert Naturalist. Nighttime canoe ride with your Naturalist to search for nocturnal animals of the Amazon. (B, L, D)

DAY 5: RESERVA AMAZONICA: RESERVA AMAZONICA This morning, a nature walk through Tambopata National Reserve and a canoe ride around Lake Sandoval with your Naturalist in search of native flora and fauna. This afternoon, explore the rainforest on a Canopy Walkway suspended 100 feet from the ground. (B, L, D)

DAY 6: RESERVA AMAZONICA: RESERVA AMAZONICA Boat ride to a local farm to learn about the various crops grown in the region. On the return to the lodge, search for piranhas, caiman, turtles and birds hiding along the river. This afternoon, visit an old cocoa and rubber plantation where over 200 different plant species are found. See why the rainforest is often considered the world’s largest pharmacy and learn about their uses and benefits. Afterwards, enjoy a relaxing canoe trip to look for turtles, sun grebes, nightjars and herons before returning to your lodge. After night falls, your Naturalist introduces you to the nocturnal animals of the Amazon. (B, L, D)

DAY 7: RESERVA AMAZONICA–PUERTO MALDONADO–LIMA: RESERVA AMAZONICA Enjoy your last morning in the Amazon. Perhaps take an early morning trail walk to see the native birds when they are most active. Return to Puerto Maldonado. PUERTO MALDONADO Fly to Lima. LIMA Meet your Tour Director at the hotel this evening. (B)

DAY 8: LIMA: Guided sightseeing: Plaza de Armas, Government Palace, Cathedral, and San Francisco Monastery. Tastings at the local Peruvian food market. Welcome dinner at a local restaurant. (B,D)

DAY 9: LIMA–CUSCO–SACRED VALLEY: LIMA Fly to Cusco. SACRED VALLEY Participate in an El Pago a la Tierra (Mother Earth Ceremony) w local shaman; Visit Awanakancha – a preColumbian weaving demonstration + view llamas, alpacas, guanacos, and vicuñas. Time to for shop in Pisac’s famous market. (B,L,D)

DAY 10: SACRED VALLEY–MACHU PICCHU: SACRED VALLEY Visit: Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo + a local Peruvian home; Scenic ride on the Vistadome Train thru the Urubamba Valley. MACHU PICCHU First Guided sightseeing at Machu Picchu. Dinner at your nearby hotel. (B,D)

DAY 11: MACHU PICCHU–CUSCO: MACHU PICCHU Entry to Machu PicchuSunrise; PM train Sacred Valley. Transfer to Cusco. (B,L)

DAY 12: CUSCO-LIMA – QUITO, ECUADOR: visit Cathedral & Santo Domingo Monastery; Traditional Pasacalle (Andean Parade) + Kenko Amphitheater + the Temple of Sacsayhuaman. Free PM; farewell dinner. (B,D)

DAY 13: QUITO: Fly to Cusco via Lima; Quito Free Time this afternoon (B)

DAY 14: QUITO: Guided sightseeing: Independence Square, the Cathedral & San Francisco Plaza Church. (B) DAY 15: MONDAY, AUGUST 14: QUITO–BALTRA–SANTA CRUZ (EMBARKATION)–CRUISING: QUITO Fly to Baltra. SANTA CRUZ: DRIVE to the highlands of Santa Cruz Island; VISIT the Tortoise Reserve; giant tortoises are found in their natural habitat. Embark the Galápagos Legend for your 3-night cruise. (B,L,D)

DAY 16: CRUISING: GENOVESA ISLAND: Your Naturalist takes you up Prince Philip’s Steps, where you will see large nesting colonies of Nazca and red-footed boobies. Wedge-rumped storm-petrels can be seen & if lucky, a glimpse of a short-eared Owl. Lunch on board – visit Darwin Bay to observe frigatebirds, red-footed boobies, herons, lava gulls + various bird species. (B,L,D)

DAY 17: CRUISING: SANTA CRUZ & SANTA FÉ ISLANDS: SANTA CRUISE: A Guided walk around a brackish lagoon where feeding flamingos are often found; Climb Dragon Hill, nesting ground for endemic land iguanas, offering lovely views of the neighboring islands. The forest is home to mockingbirds, Darwin’s finches, yellow warblers, and Galápagos doves. SANTE FÉ ISLAND: Visit sea lion colony greets you on its white-sand beach. Walk thru a cactus forest in search of the endemic Santa Fe land iguana, the largest in the islands; This island is home to a number of endemic species, including the Galápagos hawk, Galápagos snake, a variety of finches & one of the four species of Galápagos mockingbirds. DAY 18: CRUISING: MOSQUERA ISLET–BALTRA (DISEMBARKATION) – GUAYAQUIL: MOSQUERA ISLET: A flat, sandy island has a large colony of sea lions PLUS excellent site for observing shorebirds like herons & lava gulls. Maybe dip in the waters & snorkel to see the abundant sea life; BALTRA – FLIGHT to Guayaquil. GUAYAQUIL Free time this evening. (B)

DAY 19: GUAYAQUIL – HONOLULU: Your South America Adventure ends this morning. Return Flights to Honolulu. (B)
