Tried a “Pisco Sour, an elevated margarita experience!
Flew from Lima to Puerto Maldonado, the capital of Madre de Dios and entry to Peru's Amazon Jungle.
Then we took a 25 minute motorboat ride up the Madre de Dios River to our lodge.
We arrived at the Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion. Here is a glimpse at the cabana interior.

Met our Naturalist and headed out for a walk along nature trails to learn about primary and secondary rainforest.

We ended day 2 with a evening canoe ride to learn about the Amazonia River ecosystems, nocturnal animals’ activity, and the southern
constellations. Here is a caiman alligator we came across!
Day 3: Starting the day with a breakfast buffet.
We met up with our local naturalist for a hike and canoe ride.
We ventured on a 4-mile hike through Tambopata National Reserve.

After a fun fishing experience we ventured into the rainforest on a canopy walkway featuring seven suspension bridges.

At night, we learned how to make Pisco Sours with Gino from the lodge.
The Pisco Sour: Peru's iconic cocktail made with Pisco, lime, simple syrup, egg white, and bitters. Smooth, tangy, and perfectly balanced!

Next stop, Miraflores, Lima, Peru!

In Cusco, we experienced an El Pago a la Tierra, or Mother Earth Ceremony, performed
by a local shaman.

After the ceremony, we ate a delicious all-natural lunch prepared with local ingredients.
On day 8, we ascended the mountainside to the legendary Machu Picchu, the “Lost City of the Incas.”
We were guided through the intact fortress with temple remains, holy houses, and mile-long aqueduct.

Visit to Saqsawaman, a citadel in Cusco, Peru.
The complex was built by the Incas in the 15th century.
Back in Cusco, we were escorted on a Pasacalle (Andean Parade) through Cusco while playing traditional music
and performing ancient dances!

For dinner, we were treated to a delicious Peruvian El Cuy or guinea pig.
El Cuy was originally eaten by indigenous groups of the Andean Highlands.

Our final day visiting Bachas Beach, named for some wrecked World War II barges whose ribs are still visible in the
sand.
This beach offers great swimming, a lovely walk along the shore, and a visit to a lagoon with wading birds, marine iguanas, and sometimes flamingos!
