- Sapporo Snow Festival — Attracting millions of visitors each year, this world-famous event transforms Sapporo into a snowy wonderland featuring massive snow and ice sculptures. The festival is held across three main sites: Odori Park, Susukino, and Tsudome (Sapporo Community Dome).
- Asahikawa Winter Festival — Known for showcasing one of the world’s largest snow sculptures, this annual festival features stunning nighttime illuminations and outdoor activities, such as ice slides and snowmobiles.
- Sounkyo Ice Waterfall Festival — One of Hokkaido’s premier winter events, this festival features towering ice formations, frozen waterfalls, ice rooms and tunnels, and an icefall shrine illuminated with colorful lights after sunset.
- Lake Akan Winter Festival with Fireworks — Celebrate winter at Lake Akan with cultural Ainu performances, snow games, winter sports activities, and a nightly firework display that reflects beautifully over the frozen surface of Lake Akan.
- Tokachigawa Swan Festival — Enjoy illuminated ice displays and local winter delicacies at this serene riverside celebration. The festival features a large-scale light display consisting of hundreds of cone-shaped objects accompanied by a rhythmical audiovisual show.
- Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival — Also known as the “Ice Museum,” walk into and between surreal, translucent ice mounds made from Lake Shikotsu’s ultra-clear water. As night falls, the ice glows in brilliant hues, creating a magical experience.
