Grand Sumo Tournaments (Honbasho) — Held six times a year across four major cities in Japan!
Each tournament lasts 15 days, typically in odd-numbered months, starting in January. The March Osaka Grand Sumo Tournament, also known as Haru Basho (Spring Tournament), will take place from March 14 – 28, at the Edion Arena (Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium). This is the second major tournament of the year, featuring top-division makuuchi and juryo wrestlers. Makuuchi is the top division rank, fixed at just 42 wrestlers, while the juryo is the second highest division rank, fixed at 28 wrestlers. Once a wrestler is promoted to the rank of juryo, he is considered a professional with significant salary and privileges, as opposed to lower rankings that are “in training” and receive only a small allowance. With wrestlers being promoted and demoted based on their win-loss record, each match is a battle, as wrestlers fight to increase their ranking.

HOTEL NIKKO KANSAI AIRPORT (Kansai — 1 Night): The hotel is directly connected to Kansai International Airport, allowing guests to immediately begin relaxing after their flight.
IWASO INN (Miyajima — 3 Nights): Located on the World Heritage Miyajima Island, Iwaso Inn features Japanese-style accommodations with beautiful surrounding views. Guests can relax in the indoor and outdoor onsen hot springs. Traditional, multi-course Kaiseki Dinners featuring seafood and local ingredients are served at the dining room. A Japanese or Western breakfast is served at Momiji restaurant. Iwaso Inn is a 5-minute walk from Itsukushima Shrine and Momijidani Park.
HOTEL GYOKUSEN (Tamatsukuri Onsen — 2 Nights): Tamatsukuri Onsen is one of the premier onsen resorts in the Shimane Prefecture, widely known for its skin beautifying effects. The area also has spiritual locations, high-quality souvenir shops, and cafés for visitors. Rejuvenate in the Hotel Gyokusen’s lobby lounge, overlooking a traditional Japanese garden, bringing out the best in the natural beauty of the pine trees and the rock garden.
MERCURE KYOTO MIYAZU RESORT & SPA (Miyazu — 2 Nights): Immerse yourself in an all-inclusive stay, which includes dinner, breakfast, snacks, and drinks at the Lounges, access to the hot spring public bathing facilities, and activities within the hotel. It is directly connected to the current JR Osaka Station, allowing convenient access to numerous shopping and dining opportunities. It’s also in the same building as the KITTE OSAKA shopping mall. Special arrangements have been made for “Specialty” category rooms, allowing guests access to the Specialty Salon – a special space located on the 38th floor, offering food and drink services throughout the day, as well as check-in and check-out services, along with access to the Hotel Bath House “Ofuro” on the 30th floor.
