Pat Oshiro

Tell us a little about yourself.

Originally a townie, I moved to the Windward side at age 10 and still reside in Kaneohe.

I was always interested in travel and was a customer of Non-Stop Travel for many years before becoming a Tour Manager after retirement. I was always the travel planner for my family throughout the years and it was a natural transition to becoming a tour manager.

What did you do for work before becoming a Tour Manager?

I was involved with cancer research at many different local hospitals for over 25+ years. It required very detail oriented skills. I decided to get back to working with people directly and became an Oncology Patient Navigator assisting patients with their basic treatment logistics. This transitioned to working at the University of Hawaii teaching food/nutrition classes to disadvantaged adults and seniors through the SNAP program.

What are your hobbies? What do you like to do in your free time?

Besides travel, I try to attend senior exercise classes 2-3 x a week, spending time assisting with family members and my grandchildren. I also enjoy taking care of my fur baby, Tayzer.

I particularly enjoy attending my grandson’s high school soccer games which brings back memories of many years involved with my two son’s soccer programs.

Where is your favorite place to travel? What is your favorite thing to do there?

I particularly enjoy the culture, cuisine and historical sites in Japan and South Korea.

I feel safe and very comfortable in these two destinations. I really love the food, the history and shopping in Japan and South Korea.

What do you like most about being a Tour Manager?

I enjoy interacting with people from all walks of life, getting to know them and making new friends. I love assisting tour members to fulfill their bucket list destinations. Tour managing provides many opportunities to travel to new places, experience different cultures and create special lasting memories for our tour members. I love interacting with diverse groups of people and having a major role in providing positive travel experiences.

Is there anything else you’d like our tour members to know about you?

I’ve always been detail oriented and enjoy keeping my tour members informed about what they might expect on tour. Travel opens your eyes to the windows of the world and it is always most enjoyable being prepared as best you can for each destination. I welcome you to travel the world with Non-Stop Travel and me.
