Doko Ga TV: Japanmania!’s brand new video diary series featuring travels across Kyoto, Nagoya, and its surrounding prefectures. In this series, we follow the travels and trials of samurai Akechi Mitsuhide, the subject of the year-long NHK Taiga drama ‘Kirin Ga Kuru” as well as why his actions were responsible for a seismic shift in Japan’s history.
Episode 1
The first episode of our 2022 Akechi Mitsuhide Video Diary Series took us across Nagoya and across Aichi prefecture to the site of the Battle of Okehazama and then enjoyed a Nagoya staple, miso katsu, for lunch We then headed to Kani City Tourism center, where three of our lucky tour members go to to wear authentic samurai armor and concluded our day with a kaiseki dinner.
Episode 2
We continue our journey through Japan on part 2 of our Non-Stop Travel Akechi Mitsuhide video diary series. We visit one of the most significant historical icons, Gifu Castle. Next up, the 808 group got to experience the 1300-year art form of Mino Washi paper making and then enjoy a fantastic kaiseki dinner as we traversed through Gifu and Kansai prefectures, exploring the travels and trails of the 13-day Shōgun, Akechi Mitsuhide.
Episode 3
In part 3 of our Akechi Mitsuhide video diary series, our Non-Stop Travel group headed to the Shiga prefecture’s Fukui city to take a trip back in time. The Ichijōdani Asakura Clan Site Museum and Asakura clan ruins are the only ruins of a castle town in Japan that has been left undisturbed for hundreds of years since Japan’s Sengoku period. Next, we enjoyed a delicious kaiseki-style lunch and a captivating view from Biwako Terrace. Finally, the 808 entourage enjoyed an Echizen soba-making class.
