Dale & Lia Thomas

Tell us a little about yourself.

Dale: Born in Utah but I have been here since I was 3 years old. Graduated from Kaimuki High School and I was on the surf team. I retired from Hale Koa hotel as the head meat cutter. I also teach culinary classes at windward community college and I am a chef instructor at KCC and I was a special guest chef at UNLV.

Lia: Born and raised here in Oahu. I’ve been teaching for 29 years and not ready to retire just yet. I love being a nana and spoiling my granddaughters 4 & 3 years old. When I travel I love shopping for things I don’t normally see here at home.

What did you do for work before becoming a Tour Manager?

Dale: Still working as a meat cutter and culinary instructor.

Still working as a teacher.

What are your hobbies? What do you like to do in your free time?

Dale: Spending time with good friends and a great cigar.

Lia: Having family time relaxing and going on adventures.

Where is your favorite place to travel? What is your favorite thing to do there?

Dale: Alaska. Since I am Tlingit with the raven clan, from my mom’s side I like making cultural connections in Alaska and learning new things about the culture and people.

Lia: Japan. It’s such a peaceful culture and there is always something new to see and learn. I also love the beauty of Japan and its culture. Shopping and eating is always awesome!

What do you like most about being a Tour Manager?

Dale: I love helping people experience exciting adventures.

Lia: I love meeting new people and sharing their travel memories. I love being able to help people make memories.
