Day 3 – SUNDAY – SEPTEMBER 08: PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC: Welcome to the Czech Republic. Enjoy free time to explore the Golden City of Prague and its surrounding countryside. Consider sampling delicious plum dumplings and traditional Pilsner lager beside the Vltava River.

Day 4 – MONDAY – SEPTEMBER 09: PRAGUE: CLASSIC Take a Guided City Walk, and visit the Hradany Castle Grounds; see St. Vitus Cathedral, Old Town’s Astronomical Clock. Spend free time hiking the nearby hillsides, or stay in town to stroll the city of Prague to photograph its stunning cityscape. (B)

Day 5 – TUESDAY – SEPTEMBER 10: PRAGUE: A free day to explore the city at your own pace. Maybe visit the Communist Museum, Taste the local plum dumplings & Pilsner, or stroll along the Vltava River. You might catch the entertaining street performers, visit the market stalls at Charles Bridge, and sample Prague’s famous beer varieties in a local restaurant. Your Cruise Director will have plenty suggestions for things to do. (B)

Day 6 – WEDNESDAY – SEPTEMBER 11: PRAGUE–BUDAPEST, HUNGARY (EMBARKATION): After breakfast, set off for Budapest, capital of Hungary, where the Avalon Envision is docked. Before dinner, meet your crew for a welcome reception. OVERNIGHT DOCKING IN BUDAPEST (B, D)

Day 7 – THURSDAY-SEPTEMBER 12: BUDAPEST: Visit the Adventure Center for today’s activities with your Adventure Host.; ACTIVE Hike up to a magnificent viewpoint in Budapest with your Adventure Host, OR: CLASSIC Enjoy a Guided City Sightseeing, including the iconic Heroes’ Square. This afternoon choose among the Optional Guided Excursions available OR Budapest on your own. A Tasty serving of cream cake in one of the many cafés; Consider a scenic hike above the Danube. Day 8 – FRIDAY – SEPTEMBER 13: BRATISLAVA, SLOVAKIA: ACTIVE Follow your Avalon Adventure Host on a hike to lofty Bratislava Castle, OR: CLASSIC Join a Guided Walking Tour of Old Town’s cobblestone streets to Town Hall. Visit the Gothic halls of St. Martin’s Cathedral—Hungary’s centuries-old coronation church. OR take a bicycle & picnic from the ship to explore the local sights along the Danube. Day 9 – SATURDAY – SEPTEMBER 14: VIENNA, AUSTRIA: ACTIVE Explore Vienna’s Danube Island by bike with your Adventure Host, OR: CLASSIC Explore the Habsburg Empire with a morning Guided City Tour of Vienna’s gilded landmarks. See the Imperial Palace complex—the winter residence of the Imperial Family, the iconic Vienna Opera House and stunning St. Stephen’s Cathedral. OR Join an Optional Excursion to Schönbrunn Palace—summer home of the Habsburg empire. OR Consider a tram ride to Vienna’s Prater amusement park or to one of the many museums nearby. Day 10 – SUNDAY – SEPTEMBER 15: DÜRNSTEIN–WACHAU VALLEY: ACTIVE Take a Guided Hike up to the castle ruins to take in the spectacular view of the village, Danube, and the Wachau Valley below, OR: CLASSIC Join a Guided Walk, and hear the legendary tale of King Richard the Lionheart—who was imprisoned in the castle above the village during the Crusades. Later, stretch out on the Sky Deck as you sail through the Wachau Valley past vineyards, castles, and charming villages on your way to Melk.

MELK: ACTIVE Join your Avalon Adventure Host for a Hike thru Melk’s countryside, OR: CLASSIC Guided Tour of the frescoed ceilings, statues, incredible library and ornate pipe organ of Melk’s Benedictine Abbey. Day 20 – WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 – AMSTERDAM, HOLLAND: ACTIVE Start your day joining your Adventure Host on an early morning walk in Amsterdam, OR: CLASSIC Explore the iconic waterways of Amsterdam with a Guided Canal Cruise past stately homes of Amsterdam’s “Golden Age.” In the afternoon you may join an Optional Culinary Walk through Amsterdam to sample savory and sweet Dutch specialties. Or choose an Optional Biking Tour to discover the countryside.
