DAY 1: MONDAY: HONOLULU – Departure Flights to South America

DAY 2: TUESDAY: IN TRANSIT – ARRIVE IN LIMA, PERU: Arrive into Lima and transfer to your hotel.

DAY 3: WEDNESDAY: LIMA, PERU: Day at Leisure. Meet your GLOBUS representative at your hotel in the late afternoon. (B)

DAY 4: THURSDAY: LIMA–PUERTO MALDONADO–HACIENDA CONCEPCIÓN: LIMA Fly to Puerto Maldonado. PUERTO MALDONADO Motorboat ride up Madre de Dios River – VIEW exotic wildlife. Arrive at your Amazon Jungle lodge; HACIENDA CONCEPCIÓN Nature walk thru the rainforest w/ expert Naturalist. Nighttime canoe ride w/ your Naturalist: search for nocturnal animals of the Amazon. (B,L,D)

DAY 5: FRIDAY: HACIENDA CONCEPCIÓN: HACIENDA CONCEPCIÓN AM nature walk thru Tambopata National Reserve + canoe ride on Lake Sandoval w/ your Naturalist – view native flora & fauna. Afternoon, explore the rainforest on a Canopy Walkway suspended 100 feet from the ground. After night falls, your Naturalist introduces you to the nocturnal animals of the Amazon. (B,L,D)

DAY 6: SATURDAY: HACIENDA CONCEPCIÓN: HACIENDA CONCEPCIÓN Boat ride to a local farm; learn about the various crops grown in the region. This afternoon, visit a clay lick to observe wildlife from a blind to see the normal routine of fauna w/o disrupting their environment. (B,L,D)

DAY 7: SUNDAY: HACIENDA CONCEPCIÓN–PUERTO MALDONADO–LIMA: PUERTO MALDONADO; fly to Lima. LIMA Meet your Tour Director at the hotel this evening. (B)

DAY 8: MONDAY: LIMA: Guided sightseeing: Plaza de Armas, Government Palace, Cathedral, and San Francisco Monastery. Tastings at the local Peruvian food market. Welcome dinner at a local restaurant. (B,D)

DAY 9 TUESDAY: LIMA–CUSCO–SACRED VALLEY: LIMA Fly to Cusco. SACRED VALLEY Participate in an El Pago a la Tierra (Mother Earth Ceremony) w local shaman; Visit Awanakancha – a pre-Columbian weaving demonstration + view llamas, alpacas, guanacos, and vicuñas. Time to for shop in Pisac’s famous market. (B,L,D)

DAY 10: WEDNESDAY: SACRED VALLEY–MACHU PICCHU: SACRED VALLEY Visit: Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo + a local Peruvian home; Scenic ride on the Vistadome Train thru the Urubamba Valley. MACHU PICCHU First Guided sightseeing at Machu Picchu. Dinner at your nearby hotel. (B,D)

DAY 11: THURSDAY: MACHU PICCHU–CUSCO: MACHU PICCHU Entry to Machu Picchu-Sunrise; PM train Sacred Valley. Transfer to Cusco. (B,L)

DAY 12: FRIDAY: CUSCO: Visit Cathedral & Santo Domingo Monastery; Traditional Pasacalle (Andean Parade) + Kenko Amphitheater + the Temple of Sacsayhuaman. Free PM; farewell dinner. (B,D)

DAY 13: SATURDAY: CUSCO-LIMA – QUITO, ECUADOR QUITO: Fly to Quito via Lima; Quito Free Time this afternoon (B)

DAY 14: SUNDAY: QUITO: Guided sightseeing: Independence Square, the Cathedral & San Francisco Plaza Church. (B)

DAY 15: MONDAY: QUITO–BALTRA–SANTA CRUZ (EMBARKATION)–CRUISING: QUITO Fly to Baltra. SANTA CRUZ: DRIVE to the highlands of Santa Cruz Island; VISIT the Tortoise Reserve; giant tortoises are found in their natural habitat. Embark the Galápagos Legend for your 3-night cruise. (B,L,D)

DAY 16: TUESDAY: CRUISING: GENOVESA ISLAND: Your Naturalist takes you up Prince Philip’s Steps, where you will see large nesting colonies of Nazca and red-footed boobies. Wedge-rumped storm-petrels can be seen & if lucky, a glimpse of a short-eared Owl. Lunch on board – visit Darwin Bay to observe frigatebirds, red-footed boobies, herons, lava gulls + various bird species. (B,L,D)

DAY 17: WEDNESDAY: CRUISING: SANTA CRUZ & SANTA FÉ ISLANDS: SANTA CRUISE: A Guided walk around a brackish lagoon where feeding flamingos are often found; Climb Dragon Hill, nesting ground for endemic land iguanas, offering lovely views of the neighboring islands. The forest is home to mockingbirds, Darwin’s finches, yellow warblers, and Galápagos doves. SANTE FÉ ISLAND: Visit sea lion colony greets you on its white-sand beach. Walk thru a cactus forest in search of the endemic Santa Fe land iguana, the largest in the islands; This island is home to a number of endemic species, including the Galápagos hawk, Galápagos snake, a variety of finches & one of the four species of Galápagos mockingbirds. DAY 18: THURSDAY: CRUISING: BACHAS BEACH–BALTRA (DISEMBARKATION) –GUAYAQUIL: BACHAS BEACH: Your final visit takes you to Bachas Beach named for some wrecked World War II barges whose ribs are still visible in the sand. This site offers great swimming, a lovely walk along the shore, and a visit to a lagoon with wading birds, marine iguanas, and sometimes flamingos. The area is also a frequent nesting site for green turtles; BALTRA – FLIGHT to Guayaquil. GUAYAQUIL Free time this evening. (B)

DAY 19: FRIDAY: GUAYAQUIL – U.S. MAINLAND: Your South America Adventure ends this morning. Depart South America for the U.S. Mainland. Transfer to hotel for your overnight stay. (B)

Day 20: SATURDAY: U.S. MAINLAND – HONOLULU, HAWAII. Depart U.S. Mainland. Arrive Honolulu.
